Phoebe and Marigold decide to investigate a powerful storm that is wreaking havoc with the electricity in their town. The adults think it’s just winter weather, but Phoebe and Marigold soon discover that all is not what it seems to be, and that the storm may have a magical cause. To solve the case, they team up with Max, who is desperate for the electricity to return so he can play video games, and frenemy Dakota, who is aided by her goblin minions. Together, they must get to the bottom of the mystery and save the town from the magic storm. (Source: Goodreads)

Phoebe and Marigold are back for another adventure. This time their town is under attack magical attack. Together with her friend Max, her frenemy, Dakota, and a group of goblins they’ve got to get to the bottom of the mystery that’s plaguing the town.

This is the first original Phoebe and Her Unicorn graphic novel. It tells a contained story about a mysterious case in Phoebe’s hometown that she solves with the help of her magic friends. It is absolutely the best story in the Phoebe series yet.

While this graphic novel doesn’t have all the humor of the previous ones, I think the story telling and development in this story was really great. I liked that we got to see more Max and that Dakota has really grown more – I think it was inevitable and great that Dakota and Phoebe have sort of become friends through this story.

I think it was really cute that Max got a magical friend by the end of this story too, as I’m really enjoying the way that Simpson is expanding the magical universe of the Phoebe series.

I highly recommend this book. Check out the entire series!!

Ramble on,
Kimber
