Stacking the Shelves (17)

This week I’ll once again be taking part in Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. The idea of for Stacking the Shelves is to talk about the books you’ve bought, borrowed, etc. and show off and talk about your purchases and borrows. This is basically the perfect feature for me because I buy way more books, and read way more books, than I’ll ever be able to review. I’ll most likely talk about the stores I bought the books at as well, especially if they’re independent stores.

This week I purchased 4 books, received 3 books on NetGalley, 1 book from Goodreads First Reads, and 3 books on Edelweiss. Check it out below!

PURCHASED

This week, thanks to all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sales I picked up a few books at a discount on Kobo. I purchased 4 ebooks, 3 of them because they are only available as ebooks, and 1 because it was so cheap I couldn’t pass it up. I’m not a big ebook person, so I tried not to buy too many.

tswsylFirst I purchased This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales. I’ve been wanting to buy this book for a while, but I didn’t have a strong enough desire to pick it up whenever I’m at work. Seeing it on Kobo at such a big discount I decided I couldn’t pass it up any longer and bought this ebook.

sedNext, I bought Six Earlier Days by David Levithan. This is the prequel to Every Day. I’ve been wanting to read this, just out of curiosity, though I knew it wouldn’t provide much background information about the book, as I’ve seen a lot of reviews of it already. I enjoyed Every Day, it’s probably my favourite book by Levithan, so I am excited to read a little more about A.

soThe third book I purchased was Snowed Over by Angie StantonI’ve seen a lot of positive reviews of this novella, and so I’ve been really looking forward to buying it. I picked it up at the right time, because it’s a Christmas book, so reading it will definitely work for setting me in a holiday mood.

persephoneFinally, I purchased Persephone (Daughters of Zeus #1) by Kaitlin Bevis. So, I’ve been wanting this since I first saw it. I am a big Greek/Roman mythology fan, and I especially love the story of Persephone, so I always like to read adaptations of this story. Really looking forward to this!

NETGALLEY

This week I received 3 books on NetGalley.

slThe first book I received on NetGalley was Scarlet Letter from Udon Entertainment’s Manga Classics series, adapted by Crystal Chan and SunNeko Lee from Diamond Book Distributors. I really enjoyed the Pride and Prejudice adaptation, so I wanted to check out more of the Manga Classics series, and decided to add this one to my shelf. I’m looking forward to reading it.

krampusI also received Krampus! by Brian JoinesDean KotzRon Riley, and Charles Pritchett from Diamond Book Distributors. I really enjoyed the Krampus story in My True Love Gave to Me and was excited to see more stuff about Krampus out. I am looking forward to seeing another adaptation of this folk tale. Expect a review of this out in time for Christmas.

henniThe last book I received on NetGalley was Henni by Miss Lasko-Gross from Diamond Book Distributors. I’ve been eyeing this one on NetGalley for a while, but I finally got it this week. Really excited, the style looks really interesting.

FIRST READS

This week I won 1 book on Goodreads First Reads.

moI won The Mime Order (The Bone Season #2) by Samantha Shannon from Penguin Books. I don’t remember entering the draw for this one, so I was a little surprised to hear I’d won it. I haven’t read the first book (The Bone Season) yet either, so I’ve put it aside to buy from work. I’ll be reading this and the first book during the Christmas holidays.

EDELWEISS

This week I received 3 books on Edelweiss.

ttgFirst I received Teen Titans Go! Vol 1.: Party, Party! by Sholly Fisch and Lea Hernandez from DC Comics. I loved the Teen Titans animated show growing up, and the newer show as well. I am really excited to read this because I’ve recently been rewatching the show and I am excited to see how the characters are used in the comics.

asotiI also received A Sense of the Infinite by Hilary T. Smith from HarperCollins Children. I loved Smith’s Wild Awake, it was super interesting so I have been on the lookout for upcoming books from her, and I really interested in this one. I am really glad to have received it and am looking forward to reading it.

mpFinally I received Making Pretty by Corey Ann Haydu from HarperCollins Children. I loved Haydu’s OCD Love Story, I really want to buy Life By Committee, and so was excited for this book as well. I am really excited to read this!

Ramble on,
Kimber

    1. I tried really hard to avoid them, a little difficult considering I work at a bookstore, but I managed to only spend around $10 on just these ebooks which isn’t so bad. I’ve heard The Bone Season is really slow, so I’m a little tentative about reading it. Thanks for stopping by!
