Stacking the Shelves (11)

This week I’ll once again be taking part in Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. The idea of for Stacking the Shelves is to talk about the books you’ve bought, borrowed, etc. and show off and talk about your purchases and borrows. This is basically the perfect feature for me because I buy way more books, and read way more books, than I’ll ever be able to review. I’ll most likely talk about the stores I bought the books at as well, especially if they’re independent stores.

This week is two weeks worth of purchases because last week I was busy with the holidays.

This week I purchased 4 books and gifted 4 books and received 1 books on NetGalley. Check it out below!

PURCHASED

So this week I decided to save myself a bit of money, especially because I haven’t been able to do a lot of reading recently due to lack of sleep. So one of the books I got this week was actually being thrown away, and I asked if I could take it instead. The other I bought just sort of randomly because it’s a book I’ve been meaning to read.

sd gsI got Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen. I have never read anything by Dessen before, though I have been told about a million times that she is an awesome writer. I have always struggled to pick a Dessen book to read because there are a lot of sadly none of them jump out at me based on the descriptions. Given that this was being chucked I was like, well we’ll start with this then. The other book I bought was The Rosie Project (Don Tillman #1) by Graeme Simsion. I’ve been wanting to read this for about a year now, and so I decided, somewhat randomly, to buy it.

Then, on October 14 a lot of books came out that I wanted so I treated myself to a couple books.

cd spFirst was In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang. I’ve been really looking forward to this, it’s featured in a WoW here on my blog even. The art looks amazing, the book sounds amazing. It should be amazing. I also got My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins. This also got a WoW because it’s going to be the best thing ever and I’m so excited to have it. The cover is gorgeous, the insides are gorgeous. Yay! I’ve read both of these already, and they are fantastic, the reviews will be up in the next few weeks.

GIFTED

I picked up two books this week as gifts. These books were both for my mom and they are things she’s been wanting to read, and when she saw them a few days ago in the store she mentioned them to me (more as like, buy me these for Christmas), I decided to get them for her now because she seemed excited to read them.

gs kdFirst was The Zombie Queen of Hearts (White Rabbit Chronicles #3) by Gena Showalter. My mom has been reading this series and she only recently remembered there was a new book, so I got it for her as a gift. Second was Sleepy Hollow: Children of the Revolution by Keith R. A. Decandido. My mom really like the show Sleepy Hollow so when I saw this book I thought she’d enjoy it.

Also on the 14th I picked up some more gifts. One for my brother and one more for my mom.

pcc bwFirst, for my mom, Redeemed (House of Night #12) by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. My mom has been asking me about this for ages, so when it hit the shelves I bought it right away. And for my brother I got Fairest: Of Men and Mice by Bill Willingham. This one came out last week but it only came into stock at my store this week. I picked up the one and only copy in the store, luckily I was working when it came in.

NETGALLEY

This week I received 1 book on NetGalley.

pc

The cover isn’t revealed until Monday, so this is just a filler.

I got The Odyssey of Falling by Paige Crutcher from JKSCommunications. It was totally an accident, I didn’t intend to click on the request button, but I did. I will definitely still read this book though! It does sound cute, so I’m interested in seeing how the book turns out.

Ramble on,
Kimber

  1. I saw something about My True Love Gave To Me on twitter, and Maureen Johnson’s blog, the other day – it sounds like there are some really great stories in there.

    1. It’s really really great. There are some really excellent stories in it. I finished it in about a day. I think my review will be up some point this week. It’s okay about the link, I found the post still. Thanks for stopping by!!

    1. I always hear that Sarah Dessen’s the “Queen of YA” and stuff, but I haven’t ever had much interest in any of her books. Even the one I’ve got now I still haven’t touched. Alice in Zombieland isn’t really my type of series I think, but she seems to have enjoyed it so that’s what matters.

      Thanks for stopping by!!
